check-up examinations U1 – U11 und J1 – J2

• The check-up examinations (yellow examination booklet) are detailed examinations of the stage of development of your child.

• Each study has other priorities: physical health, development, language, hearing, vision, etc.

• Please always bring the prevention booklet, the vaccination book and the insurance card.

• We usually start with a small questionnaire to get some important information about your child.

• Measuring and weighing is always part of it.

• There is always time to ask questions during and after the check-up, investigation questions, general development, speech, hearing, sighting, etc. (some parents make a small note before they forget anything).

• In the Rgel you will be reminded by the aftercare center in Homburg of the preventive appointments. We then give the feedback back to the aftercare center.

sometimes the prick must be :-(

Sometimes a check-up is not enough to help your child well. In some cases, a blood test will help – but not always.
Some examinations can also be carried out directly in practice.

But: Not all diseases can be detected or excluded by blood tests.
Therefore a “bloodcheck” is not possible, we can not investigate “everything”. Laboratory values are always determined specifically under one problem. We always treat the child, never just the laboratory value, i. even if the laboratory readings indicate an infection, but the child is well, we are reluctant to receive the therapy.

• Infections:
Various laboratory parameters may indicate an infection or a bacterial or viral infection:

  • CRP is an important indication for infection, but it indicates only nonspecific bacterial infections. The CRP can be determined in practice (blood sampling from the finger, result in 5 minutes) or in the laboratory after blood collection from the vein (result in the evening or the following day).
  • The erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) primarily indicates bacterial and chronic inflammation. The blood is taken in practice, the result is ready after two hours.
  • Blood sample (BB) with the determination of white blood cells (= leukocytes) can be removed from the finger or from the vein, the result is in the evening or the following day. The number and type of leukocytes shows the strength of the infection and suggests the cause (bacteria or viruses).

• blood sugar:
The blood sugar (BZ) can be determined directly in the practice (result in 5 minutes)

• urine examination:
In the urine, red and white blood cells, bacterial indications, blood sugar and ketone bodies can be detected (result in 5 minutes). Thus, an infection of the kidneys and / or bladder or other kidney diseases can be detected or suspected.

• streptococci A = scarlet fever
The group A streptococci cause i.d.R. a strong, often purulent tonsillitis. The disease is contagious and, if left untreated, can be tedious and cause complications of the joints, kidneys and heart. Therefore, with us: If streptococci are detected, we treat antibiotic. The child is no longer infectious after 3 days and can return to kindergarten or school. The test is performed with a throat swab, result is available in 5 minutes.

• other laboratory values:
Various other laboratory values help to estimate the function of various organs, e.g. Blood count, liver and kidney values, metabolic values, pancreatic levels and much more.

• Thyroid:
The thyroid gland intervenes in many metabolic processes and even in children are disorders, even slight over- and under-functions not uncommon.

• Allergy:
The studies on allergies are not always easy. Above all, the question is important: When did the child react to something? This helps in many cases to better limit the allergies and to come to a reliable diagnosis faster.

Children develop

• The development of your children is very important to us. Even after initial problem-free development in the first few months or years, individual problems may arise.

• Developmental and intelligence tests, specific tests (Bayley II, pre-school test, school test, perception test, spelling and calculation test) and others sometimes help to better choose further funding or the right school.
